Position Overview:

The Entry-Level Staff Accountant will support the daily accounting functions of the organization and report directly to a Controller who is not only an experienced CPA but a natural mentor. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and looking to build a long-term career in accounting. This role provides meaningful, hands-on experience with clear paths for advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain general ledger accuracy

  • Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Reconcile bank, trust, and investment accounts

  • Assist with monthly close and preparation of financial statements

  • Support budgeting and internal reporting

  • Help prepare for annual audits and maintain compliance records

  • Collaborate with other departments on financial aspects of ongoing programs and projects

  • Take on additional responsibilities over time as skills develop

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 0-2 years of accounting experience (internships welcome)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to learn

  • Professionalism and discretion, especially given the sensitivity of the organization's mission

  • Interest in a long-term role with growth potential and a mentor-led development path
